Captain's Focus

Sorry for the lack of reports the last few days. I have been boat shopping, wanting to upgrade before fluke season. Now with that behind, I should be able to keep you up to date with better aplomb. It is a mixed bag at the moment with some stripers and weaks but still mostly blues.

My suggestion is that if you want to catch a tiderunner, you need to get out very early or fish late in the day. Both the sun and boat traffic will put a damper on the weakie bite. Think Pink if you are targeting such species. While this is a good color any time of the year for the weak bite, it seems particularly effective in the spring.

On a downer note, the gnats have been absolutely horrible. If the wind is blowing any kind of west you better bring some screen. You have been warned!
