Captain's Focus

09/27/14

Well the easterly wind the past couple of days put the nail in the fluke coffin today!! We fished a number of different areas and were only able to manage a couple of keepers and a handful of shorts for a nice group of regulars on a gorgeous day. Mike Scher, Cranford, took our final pool of the fluke season.

The 2014 fluke season is now closed. 2014 will go down in the record books as one of the best seasons for big fish in memory! We have not seen as many BIG FLUKE caught in one season in the Raritan Bay area in our 40 years in business!! Our SIX DOORMATS were our most in a season and twice as many as any other area party or head boat!! Our 14 POUND 9 OUNCE MEGA-MAT was an EB II record and was also untouchable!!!! The sheer numbers and size of our gallery fish are seasonal standards that may, or may not, be beaten for a looong time!!! We will be trying our hardest in 2015, however!!!!! Thanks to all of our hard working EBII fishers for getting it done. It would not have been possible without you all!! We would like to thank all of our flukers for making 2014 such a productive and memorable season. A special shout out also goes to you guys who fish exclusively for fluke and who hang up your rods now that the fluke season has come to a close. We hope you all stay safe and healthy and we look forward to seeing you again next season!!!
