If there was ever a textbook example of how the"conditions" we talk about can help/hurt fishing then today was it!! Back to the area we have been fishing this morning. Wind against tide most of the day with just enough nice keepers to let us know that the fish are still there and to stick it out until something changed. Had a few shorts and a couple of keepers each stop until the afternoon southerly wind kicked in. Within ten minutes we went from no movement to needing 8 ounces of lead. Just that fast also the big fish turned on and some guys who had none or one fish ended up with three and four NICE fish on the last drift of the day!! We even stayed out a bit late and put smiles on most of the faces today. We made the choice to stick it out in that area and wound up looking like heroes at the end of the day. Tony Salomone, Woodbridge, NJ, had several keepers including the 6 pound 5 ounce pool fish. Mickey Endo, Demerest, NJ, had four keepers and just missed the pool with a 6 pound 3 ounce fish. Bill Merritt, Bridgewater, NJ, had a 5 pound 13 ounce fish as his largest, Paul Dunleavy, Middletwon, NJ, and Bob Shock, Shark River, NJ, both had 6 pound 2 ounce fish as part of their catches. See you in the morning.
