A good group of fishermen came out to take advantage of the nice weather on the opening day of the NJ blackfish season. Pretty much any boat that could float was out on the grounds as well with the nice weekend conditions. Unfortunately the togs were not in the mood to cooperate. We had good anchoring conditions most of the day and tried a bunch of different areas all with the same results. We only managed a handful of fish off of each spot for some of our very good blackfish regulars though it was not from lack of trying! Most of what we caught were keepers. Bill Higginson, Flemington, NJ, took the pool. We are looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow. See you in the morning!
