Captain's Focus

Lack of participation kept us at the dock today. Tomorrow looks like crap also, so for us it will be a no go. Things should pick up next week once all the kids are out of school.
We are Chartered this coming Friday morning.

On a sad note, the Fishing World lost another gem of a man.
Richard Hendricks, 88 a long time Fresh and Saltwater fisherman has passed.
A gentle man who appreciated every minute with a rod in his hand. Didn't matter if he caught anything, he just loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest.

Amazing how every spring Dick (as we called him) would drive himself from Long Valley just to catch the Striper run, which he loved so much. His family gave us a great complement when they said how much they appreciated all the help in making his years without his wife meaningful!

This is a revised summary by Richard in 2011 which tells it all:

Behold the Fishermen!
He rises up early in the morning and disturbs the whole household.
Mighty are his preparations.
He goes forth full of hope and expectation,
and when the day is far spent, he returns,
telling many stories of the big ones that got away.
He has been rewarded by the beauty and wonder of God's creation.
He has seen hawks and eagles, deer and bear, and many other wonders.
His spirit has been soothed from the cares of the day
by the rush of the water against his legs.
He truly has been blessed.

"Fish on Dick", I'm proud to have shared a part of your life.
Capt. Ron
