Sunday, 7/6/14 LIVE Report

This was a tough week with the weather and fishing. We did not sail on Thursday and Friday, therefore, no report. Yesterday was not so nice with a hard wind coming from the backside of Arthur. We picked mostly shorts with only handful of keepers coming over the rail. Today we will have very good conditions to begin the morning with the last of the outgoing water carrying us with a westerly breeze. Unfortunately, we will be shot in the foot around 9- 9:30am. That’s when the tide will change and the flood current will hold us against the wind, possibly making us seek out other options as far as location.

July Flukemaster Pool
Leader: Chris Docs
Weight: 4lb 10oz
Pot: $430.00

First Drift
Pulled up the reins just outside of our harbor. We read a ton of bait life on the bottom, but only one short fluke came over the rail. We are marching on to the Reach.

Second Drift
Best drift in a while. Caught the very last of the outgoing water which gave us terrific conditions, and we picked away with a very good keeper ratio. No where near fireball fishing, but considering how poor it has been, this was outstanding. Bill Burns caught the heaviest fluke on this drift, weighing 5 lb 10 oz, making him the new leader in the monthly pool. High hook caught 3 keepers, and three other anglers put 2 fish in their buckets. Going to run back up for another. We will not have the same drifting conditions on the next drift. The current has swung the other way which is going to make for wind against tide.
