PORGIES 2013

Wednesday, 9/25/13 Report

We begin another fall season today with the start of porgy fishing. It has been a few years since we targeted anything after the fluke season, so this is a very exciting day for us. We are going to start the day fishing between the channels and see how it goes. It would be nice to land on them right away.

Our first few drops were unsuccessful. We blasted off and are headed offshore.

It’s on!! Hot porgy action!! We are making drifts and slamming them each time.

We are having a very good first day out. The weather is just perfect and the porgies are biting. We have made drifts and anchored up with both methods proving successful. One angler is approching his limit and there are a few more in the 30′s. A good day indeed!

Our first day of porgy fishing was a decent one. High hook caught 47 keepers and low man put 17 in his bucket. The weekend looks like a great one weather wise, and with the opening of sea bass on Friday, we should be set up for a very good day. Make sure you bring extra hooks and sinkers because chances are you will eventually lose one or two. Each day is different, but today the heaviest we went with sinkers was 6 oz on the drifts. I’m excited for the weekend. We will see you Saturday!
