Pregame Show
Labor Day ! How fast the summer went. Let’s get started with the events from the weekend. Saturday we had the chase for the top spot in the August Pool. Surprisingly, with all the big fish that were caught last week, no one could knock George Cullen off the leaderboard. Mr. Cullen was the official winner for the month, winning $1,100.00 with a 6 lb 14 oz fish. Now onto the fishing. We have seen a change in the body of fish. Last week there weren’t a ton of fish caught, but the ones we were catching were 4 pounds or better. On Sunday we saw a dramatic change in the size of the fish. While the overall “fishing” has improved, the size of the fluke has dropped dramatically. This new body of fish that has taken over the channel on their way to their winter home offshore are most shorts in the 14″ to 17″ range. There are few keepers mixed in, but the ratio has been poor. We are going to get set up in Ambrose Channel were we have spent the bulk of our time over the past several weeks, and see what swims. Perhaps today is the day it breaks wide open and that keeper ratio improves.

September Flukemaster Classic Update
With 24 days of fluking in the month of September, we will run our monthly pool. The current pot is at $100.00 and Anthony Rullo is the leader with a 3 lb 13 oz fish.

Fall Schedule Update
There will be life after fluke this year! Beginning on Wednesday, September 25th we will be fishing for porgies. On the 27th sea bass opens, and you will be able to throw them into the mix as well. Our schedule starting on the 25th will be as followed:

Wednesday’s, Saturday’s & Sunday’s
7:30am – 4:00pm
Fare: $65

First Drift
Pretty good fishing. The keeping was another story. The conditions are very good.

Second Drift
The first keeper came over the rail and it was a beauty, weighing just over 6 pounds. The fishing continues to be good. Now if we could improve the ratio we would be set.

Midday Update
We are beating up on the fluke, but the ratio is absolutlely terrible. Made a slight move to the east and it was the same thing. Came back to the western end of Ambrose and more of the same. The good news is, as of now, there will be a shootout for the pool. Two fish over 6 pounds.

Postgame Show
We caught a ton of fish, just 95% of that ton went back. See you tomorrow!
