SCHEDULE ALERT
Wednesday’s morning trip will be a one time only Marathon trip. We will sail from 7:30am to 4:30pm.

Tuesday, August 20th

Location: Northern Raritan Bay
Tide: High 7:42am
Water Temp: 72.3 degrees
Wind: W 5kts
Moon Phase: 100% Full

Conditions
Fact: The current will be ripping again because of the full moon.
Fact: There is a light westerly breeze that will pushing us with the current.
Unknown: Will we be able to have manageable drifting conditions?
I do not think that we will be able to live in the channel once we get any strength to the current. We will get a shot at it because there will be a tide change right as we set up.

Pregame Show
I forgot to mention that we had a MAJOR banana scare before we left the dock yesterday. There were 3 confirmed bananas on board which were disposed of properly. One owner was educated of the rules while the other two owners, after hearing about this, anonymously rid the boat of their bananas.

The fishing has not been very good since the first drift on Saturday morning. We are on a full moon which typically brings a decline in the fluking. The good news is that today it is 100% full. Hopefully, we can look for things to start to improve either today or tomorrow. . . Bait won the battle on Monday. All but two of the top anglers from yesterdays trip were using natural bait, however, today is a new day, and as you know each day brings on different things. The jig and Gulp guys might put on a show, but for now we will wait and see. We are closing in on Ambrose Channel which will be our starting point. 8 and 10 ounce sinkers will be the norm. As we approach the channel the throttles are pulled back. The boat is about to be positioned for optimal drifting. All anglers are excited in anticipation of today’s catch. I hope it’s a good one!

August Flukemaster Classic Update
George Cullen holds the top spot with a 6lb 14oz fish. The pot is up to $800.00.

First Drift
The best drift since Friday. We only had a few keepers on board when we blew the horn to make a move, however, it seemed like the sound of the horn signaled the fluke to attack! Three keepers came over the rail moments after the horn, and we decided to continue with the drift instead of relocating. It turned out to be a terrific decision because we caught close to 20 keepers up to 5 pounds. The down side to this is the current is increasing by the minute. We may only be able to get another drift or two out of this.

Second Drift
The current is now carrying us at close to 2 kts, but we are still catching the fluke well with a few 5 pounders in the mix. Could today be the day we catch a real beast? . . Running up for another drift.

Third Drift
We continue to put a small beating on the fish. High hook has 3 keepers and there are 4 fluke on the boat that weigh over 5 pounds.

Postgame Show
We had a very good day of fluking. Looking forward to tomorrow!!!
