Captain's Focus

Capt. Phil Dulanie and Capt. Mark DeBlasio of the Canyon Runner were back offshore Sunday to Monday and we very happy to be headed to the general vacinity of the Hudson Canyon as we saw some good water moving in there in the one and only SAT shot we got.

They had lines in by 1pm and the afternoon troll saw a nice pick of very nice size yellowfin. The night bite saw a couple more for Capt. DeBlasio but not much more. Up on the troll in the morning again saw a nice pick of fish. What was so nice was the fish bite all day so it wasn’t like we had to wait for just a short shot at them. Capt. Phil finished up with 14 for 25 or so all on the troll and Capt Mark was 11 for about 25 with a couple on the chunk and released a white. We can’t explain the reason for so many fish being lost – just one of those days where there were a ton of short bites and pulled hooks quickly into the fight. The action was in 600 feet of water and ballyhoo were the ticket on this trip with Canyon Runner squid spreader bars a close second.

Looks like we again might be stuck at the dock for a while with bad weather but hope to get out sometime soon. We are booked up everyday now for a full boat trip until the last week of August but do have a single spot on August 2-3, 7-8, 15-16 and 17-18 if anyone is interest – 732-272-4445.

The boys never sent me pictures but I hope to get some today and will post.
