Captain's Focus

Capt. Mark DeBlasio and Capt. Dean Lambros took out the Jaime Slawski charter on Friday for a quick day troll to the canyons and made every minute of it. Fishing close to home (84 miles from Manasquan) but south of the Hudson Canyon they worked 67 degree water all day in 500-550 feet and picked away at nice yellowfin from 30-45.

Canyon Runner Spreader Bars were the ticket as they ended up having to pull 6 bars at once. The Canyon Runner mini-mamba Spreader Bars in purple/black was the hot bar today with the squid bars a close second. They couldnÂ’t get a bite on anything else it seemed.

The weather was actually nice offshore (they sent me a picture to prove it) but since it blew up inshore I made them cut the trip short once they put their 10th yellowfin in the boat. They only fished about 8 hours and Mark insisted that if it was nice and they did a full overnighter 20+ yellowfin would have been an easy number as it got better right before they had to leave.
