Captain's Focus

Adam LaRosa ran the 60 Ritchie Howelll with Ritchie and William Howell, John Timken, Brad Burgess, Matt Hanifee and Jay Richardella. With the “marlin” crew on the boat we focused the entire trip on pulling dredges and white marlin and it started out just as planned. Pulling into the Hudson at 12:30am on Friday we had our first white release in 15 minutes and were 2/3 within the first 2.5 hours. It was tough sticking it out while listening to Mark and the 48 crush the tuna to our east but we hung tight inshore but never picked another white the rest of the day. We ran over to Mark for the night bite and pulled 3 nice yellowfin on the chunk. Up on the morning troll we still put out the marlin spread but couldn’t get the dredges in the water for 1 hour. Just pulling 4 ballyhoo and the 2 squid chain teasers we had 18 yellowfin in 45 minutes and a total of 31 for the morning. In fact, in the first 45 minutes we had 8-10 yellowfin swimming under each squid chain and attacking it as it hung from the riggers and Will Howell was picking them off on the jig pulling 6 or 7 just jigging. We ended up with 35 yelllowfin, 2 white and a bunch of nice mahi.
