Captain's Focus

Capt. Mark DeBlasio and Capt. Deane Lambros left on the 48 Viking Sunday, June 19 with an open boat trip and ran down to the southern canyons once again and find the fish a little picky in the afternoon troll. They worked the edge hard and pulled 6 yellowfin out of it mostly caught on Canyon Runner Spreader Bars just before dark. They set up on the drift at night with out much activity and instead got back up on the troll in the dark for the morning troll. That paid off nicely as they were up to 14 yellowfin by 7:30am. They then made a move north and pulled 7 more yellowfin before heading home. These fish are almost all nice fish with most 35-45 pounds and 2 fish in the 70-80 class. They finished off with 21 total releasing 3.

Capt. Phil Dulanie had the Kevin Lang charter out Monday to Tuesday on the 60 Ritchie Howell with Capt. Jay Richardella and Capt. Kobey Treadwell on the crew and ran right to where the 48 was on the fish. Monday started out slow for the 60 Ritchie with only a 100 pound yellowfin and 40 pounder plus mahi to their credit by 7pm. But then it opened up with a 5 bagger and a few double to finish the afternoon troll with 14 40-100 pound yellowfin to their credit. The night bite saw 3 makos take the bait with a 120# boated and a smaller one and much larger one jumped off. The morning troll was slow until a wiggle to the north produced solid action and the trip finished off with 26 yellowfin total with many released.

Capt. Mark DeBlasio and Capt. Deane Lambros did a rare one-day trolling trip with the Joe Terranova charter on the 48 and were done fishing before most people had their morning coffee. Starting the troll at 5am they had 14 yellowfin by 7am and a total of 30 bites with 20 fish by 10am and headed home early. The most interesting thing about today is that a majority of these fish were in the 80 – 100 pound class with the rest 50-70 pounds.

[B]This is just flat out yellowfin fishing at it’s best. Please seriously consider taking one of the last few dates we have open next week as this fishing will not last.
