Captain's Focus

On Monday Capt. Paul Dalik, Capt. Mike Zajac and Capt. Hook took the Mark Reber charter out on the 60’ Ritchie Howell and basically caught yellowfin from the time they showed up in the Hudson Canyon to the time they left. It's not the best fishing we've every seen but it ain't bad.

Arriving in the afternoon on an overnighter they set up on the troll on the west wall and had fish on immediately. They worked double, triples, quads and much much more as the fish were destroying our Canyon Runner Rainbow Squid and Green Machine bars and eating every ballyhoo we put in the water. They ended the afternoon troll with 15 yellowfin in the box and already into release mode as the charter had all they wanted to eat.

The night bite was non-existant and that was fine with them as they needed the rest. As soon as they put the rods out on the troll in the morning it was game on again and they spend from 4:30am to 9am releasing 50-70 pound yellowfin as it seemed a bigger class of fish were around in the morning. The boys were actually running away from the yellowfin looking for a marlin or big-eye but couldn’t shake off the hungry schools of yellowfin tuna. The came home with the 15 in the box and another 16 released with most of those released with tags.
