Captain's Focus

Captains Phil Dulanie and Mark DeCabia and mate Billy Rowan took the Kevin Stybe charter out to the Toms on Sunday to Monday for and overnighter and went right to the chuck on the anchor right at the tip of the Toms in 550 feet of 80 degree water. The squid were 200 feet down and very think as they were catching 6 squid on 3 jigs all at one time all night long. They got their first fish at midnight, on what else a live squid and then a bite every 30 minutes and finished the night going 5 for 7 and missed a few other 40-80 pound yellowfin. Up on the troll in the morning they trolled the same area around the tip and down the west wall 2 miles and at first light caught a 60lber trolling right away on a tuna clone and then at 11am went 3 for 3 on 50 to 65 pounder's on a Canyon Runner 9 inch Zucchini Spreader Bars and Melton Cherry Jets. In addition, they caught a few mahis around the pots. Not a bad trip for 4 ladies and one gentleman that made up the charter ending up with 9 nice yellowfin and the mahis.
