We didn’t get back to the barn until 3 AM this morning and I am glad we decided to head in last night cause the wind is kicking this morning. Took a crew of six including regular Ari, and a bunch of his friends. We headed back to the same place as we killed it the day before, but man what a difference a day makes and the internet with word traveling. We arrived around 11AM to a fleet of over 100 boats in 1 square mile when the previous day there were only four boats on site. It was seas of life with Pilot whales, dolphins and bait everywhere but seemed as the boat traffic shut the bite down. We trolled all day and into the night with a knockdown around 6 PM which didn’t come tight, and then around 815 PM we got a knockdown which did come tight. We knew it was a big fish right off the bat but it didn’t feel like a tuna and we all were hoping that it wasn’t a shark. About 25 minutes later we see some color and to everyone’s surprise we have a large swordfish which was harpooned the first time it got near the boat before it could run. We landed it with everyone’s help and it was approximately 200 lbs+. Absolutely amazing to catch this beast on the troll! Great way to end the otherwise slow day and steaks that were absolutely massive! Great photos courtesy of one of the crew.
