Had a busy weekend of PM bass trips.  Here are the reports starting w/ 6-1:

6/1:  Had the Sanders crew on board for their yearly livelining trip, minus Derial who was under the weather and was missed by all of us (Get better soon boss!)

Got our bait, no problem off Squan, started livelining on some readings. Had 1 runoff, no hook-up. Bounced around, fishing some high spots and pods off the beach - nada.

Got a call of a little bite going on up to our north, and found more bunker, more boats, and a little more life as we had a few runoffs going 1-4 on bass to about 30# there. Then got another call from Capt Al (THANK YOU!!!) that it was blowing up a bit further up the line, so we put the afterburners on the old cats (running 30+ kts!) and ran another 6 miles in no time to find BIG bass blowing up all around us. Whitewater, cinder blocks falling from the sky kinda thing in every direction with bunker flying outta the water and big bass snapping and popping on the hapless baitfish.

Initially, the fish were taking anything we put in the water: plugs, livies, deads, etc. After the initial explosion subsided, we still had a couple more bites on plugs. I had 3 fish in the bow landing a couple to 35#, one which was a slob that I never saw nearly straightened a hook on a popper (the fish nearly spooled my spheros) - never got to see the fish but it was a beast Meanwhile in the stern Brian had 2 big fish, one @ 39# (personal best) on a livie and another big fish on a swimmer. We also had some vicious runoffs on fresh heads when we ran out of livies. 

6/2:  Had Darren B's charter on the boat today. Left at noon, found a big swell but a flattening NW wind. Found the bunker, but had to return half the crew because the seas took a toll on the ride up. So, we got back up north about 45 minutes later and filled both wells with bunker.

We then rode around bouncing pod to pod looking for some bites. Didn't have any bites till we got up north off Long Branch, and it was all big bluefish.  Ran back south and finally got a few, to 26#, but a real good bite never materialized and we at best had a slow pick going 3-8ish on bites. We read the bass incredibly well at times last night, they just didn't want to bite. Only wound up with 3 in the box to 26#. 

6/3: Had Jon k charter the boat today for an afternoon bass trip. Last year jobs crew was on board exactly one calendar year earlier where we ALL had a bass trip if a lifetime with monster bass crushing our bunkers and plugs from the start of the trip till the finish...  However... This years outing was the stark opposite! Tons of bunker, great readings in a lot of places, but all we managed was bluefish. We did see two fish come up late, but by 630 some very Nasty t-storms started roaring thru so we had to make a few moves, but we came up empty. We were back at the dock by 7PM.

Overall, fishing stank to high heavens. I think the full moon has A LOT to do with what we're seeing right now - there are a lot of bass around and once things settle we might see things pick up very quickly... Better days are ahead!!!
