My client of 7 years Dr. Dave Fischer reached out Friday evening and wanted to take his dad Ed out for an early father's day trip with Dave's buddy Mike - my original charter postponed due to conditions and rescheduled till later this summer. We had some time restrictions, and decided on a 530AM-1230PM trip. Ran out, and ran north, ocean was a bit sloppy and a little uncomfortable w/ the swell. Finding bunker was no problem. In the pods, small bluefish were destroying our snagged and free-lined bunker - no bass. Decided to run up north to do some chunking on the rough stuff. First drop we had no bites, second drop, we had insta-bites with GATOR bluefish on live bunker, chunks, heads, whatever went in. As the tide slowed, the bite slowed, so we made a little wiggle. The last move got us MORE bluefish topped by Dave's 16# monster. At 11:45, right before the tide change, we had to get back to the dock, so we took off with the guys having soar arms and a box full of big bluefish. Some pics will be on the site later today. And... Happy Father's day to all the dad's out there!! |
