6/10:  Had Kendall's charter onboard today for a split day between bass and bottom fishing. Kendall had a couple of guys drop out last minute so it was his son Quincy and dad Bill with Kenny and I.

First thing we ran south, found small pods, no life. Got a couple of calls of good life up north so we turned arond and headed up. Acres and acres of bunker, and god knows how many boats. No problem snagging bunker, but every bunker we sent back in was inhaled by 7-12# bluefish. We must've lost an honest dozen hooks.

We heard of a little bite back south, so off we went again the other direction. Got down there, only to find it petered out. 
Switched gears, went bottom fishing for a bit. Couldn't anchor cause we didn't have any wind or tide, so we drifted, picking at loads of just short seabass with some keepers mixed in plus some nice ling and one "keeper" tog which had to go back b/c it was out of season.

At around noon, we headed further south to the IBSP area and started bassing again. Hopping pod to pod and fishing IN the pods, we were finally able to get some bites and got the guys into some bass, all slobs - Quincy had a 42# (his first bass ever - beat that!) and Kendall had a 43# - NICE big fat FISH and Kendall's personal best.

We made a couple more stops on the way home on pods - no more bass but we hooked, believe it or not, 2 very big fish which we assumed to be threshers working tight pods. The mystery fish picked the bunker up and just took off; no bite just a take and go - both times we almost got spooled but luckily the leader parted LOL

Nice day with great people, we wound up with the bass and a 5 gallon bucketful of ling and seabass. The guys wound up taking 3 full bags of fillets home with the bass and bottom fish - real nice outcome after a slow start!!!!

6/9:Had Mike "sharky", Kenny, Brian, Larry flukemaster, Fred, and Scott aboard for the JCAA fluke tourney. Ran north, stopped on some bunks for bait and a drift, no bass, then continued north.

Worked in on the beach and off only a few shorts. Continued up and went off and finally got into some fluke. We pretty much worked this area all morning picking away at keepers and shorts as well as dome sea bass. Most drifts yielded 2-5 keepers w/ plenty of shorts in the mix.   At times we had some pretty good fishing, but overall it was a pick and the new 17.5" minimum certainly helped our "keeping" in this area!

By noon this area dried up do we hopped around picking a few more here and there plus some big seabass.   One last shot in on the rocks looking for a monster didn't pay off as we had a strong NE current take over and all we managed were more shorts and a couple more keepers.

At days end we had our 6-man limit of fluke + some additional keepers + a dozen seabass and 2 ling.   Our top fluke was just under 5# and our top seabass was around 3#. Great day on the waterr with a great crew - Kenny's 4.95# fish put us in 8th place in the always competitive Pt. Pleasant port!  Real nice day - guys went home w/ lots of meat!!!!  (Pics are in the gallery!)
