Captain's Focus

We haven't sailed in 3 1/2 weeks - as most of you know I'm back to the regular day job of teaching 6th graders in North Jersey; BUT we had trips scheduled on the weekends only to get blown out 5 times.  We were scheduled to sail today the 26th (I had the day off), but the raging SW winds kept us tied up, and last weekend's trips (FTYP Sunday and Saturday's charter) were both blown out due to nasty conditions.  The prior week when I was off Mon-Tues for Rosh Hashannah we had trips scheduled, but Tuesday's Mahi-Bluefin trip was blown out due to crazy hard S winds.

Monday's trip actually left the slip, 9/17, but an issue with our starboard motor made us call the day very short.  Thankfully, the issue has been resolved.

So, outside of leaving the dock once in the last 3 1/2 weeks (and that trip got nixed), we've been blown out or weathered out the rest of the month of September.  I hope to be back at it this weekend, but weather again looks like it'll be a factor.  Let's hope October allows us to get some trips in!

And finally CONGRATULATIONS go out to Larry Valdez "The Flukemaster" for taking our seasonal pool, and an honorable mention goes to Fred Monaco who was toe-to-toe with Larry all season long for the lead.  These guys fish with us roughly a dozen times over the summer, and are 2 of the best fluke fishermen I know.  Again, congrats to Larry on taking the prize this year (finally!).

*Open boat schedule is updated, and I'm now really chomping at the bit.  Early cabin fever?  No way!!
