4/27 - First trip of the season today with hurricane Dave n his crew targeting bass. Broke our inlet early and got set up waaaaay up north by 8. Had a few right away then it died - we missed the early bite - caught them again on the change with more bites and more fish, just lots of real short shorts. Most of the shorts were in the 18-25" range but got each of the guys a keeper to Dave's 14#er. Slack tide was brutally slow and we tried trolling up in the bay and at the mouth, but had no knockdowns but saw some great readings of fish. When we finished up clamming we heard of a little jig bite a couple miles even further up the line, checked it out, but again we were there a tad too late :( On the way home we tried 2 drops for blackfish - but Toggin was horrible. Either way, it was a Nice way to start the season with a great crew. With the jig fish starting to show (the jig bite was better today, Sunday 4/28) we will most likely focus on that next weekend. We do have openings for 5/4 and 5/5!!! |
