Atlantic Highlands blackfishing December 7 07 December 2017 Capt. Tom We decided not to fish the past two days due to the weather but we were out today fishing for blackfish. Ben made sure those that only caught shorts went home with a blackfish for dinner.
We did get our asses kicked and it wasn't easy fishing, between the drift being fast and rolling around but we put a catch together with some nice size stripers. Here is some of today's catch, See you soon, Capt. Rob
CAA Action Alert from Paul Haertel The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) and the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council (MAFMC) will have a joint meeting in Annapolis, Maryland from December 11 th to December 14 th to discuss a number of fisheries issues, especially fluke on December 12th and sea bass on December 13. In addition to having a presence at the meeting the JCAA will send detailed comments on fluke and sea bass to the above web link.
Capt. Rob Semkewyc says tomorrow is a go for striper jigging on the Sea Hunter from Atlantic Highlands, and he also expects to have fishable weather through Saturday. Capt. Stan Zagleski took a day off from blackfishing with Elaine B. II out of Bahrs in Highlands to let the sea settle, but will be at it again in the morning.
While there should be lots of good fishing ahead of us, party boat anglers are starting to run out of options. A rough surf with southerly wind forecasts of up to 30 mph seemed to also keep surfcasters home, but a shift to west winds should calm and clear the surf over the next few days -- though it will be a lot colder.
