Posted on October 18, 2021 Small craft warning now, but tomorrow looks good Though a small craft warning is up through late tonight, the morning forecast looks better with northwest winds at 15 knots plus a possible gust to 25 which should be fine for surfcasters. No reports today, but I ll catch up tomorrow.
Posted on October 17, 2021 Maryland striper Index way below average Though up slightly from last year at just 3. Bob Matthews at Fisherman s Den reports Miss Belmar Princess boated its first fall striper yesterday.
That didn t bother the boaters at Morgan Marina this afternoon as they were celebrating that marina s 60th year. They didn t have a hit until 11 when they chunked them up behind a dragger for non-stop action.
Posted on October 8, 2021 Selling N. J. house weightlifting set and office furniture at no charge over weekend I m cleaning up my home prior to putting it up for sale this week. The furniture in my office is available at no charge, as is a weightlifting set with bench that I trained with in high school to build myself up from a 100-pound weakling to the Long Island lightweight title in 1954 and a lifetime of fighting big game fish.
Posted on October 7, 2021 Tuna hitting inshore offshore There weren t many reports today. The Golden Eagle from Belmar had a boat limit of 3- to 8-pound bluefish today plus some little tunny.
Told him tuna had been slow, but could use Stripers as a back up, he agreed. Made bait and tried for 4 hours on the tuna, no bites ran to the striper grounds and had fun with the stripers, good to get on them for the first trip of the fall.
As a result, Santee is taking tomorrow off. Max Koblan (9) of Manasquan Park was casting from a dock on Manasquan River last night when he caught multiple small blues casting a small Rapala.
Posted on October 4, 2021 Bluefishing was better at night The Golden Eagle from Belmar had a fine Saturday night bluefish trip with a boat limit, yet the choppers were fussy again in the morning even though some were splashing and others following up hooked fish. That boat is tuna fishing Monday, but will be back to blues on Tuesday.
