Though I didn't get a press release, Allen Riley reported that the Jersey Shore Surfcasters are holding their annual Surf Day on Saturday at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft from 8 30 a. m. to 4 p. m. with an admission price of 10.
The Marine Trades Association of N. J kicks off its annual New Jersey Boat Sale Expo from noon to 8 p. m. Thursday in the N. J. Convention Expo Center at Edison. They will be giving it a try again on Thursday.
Capt. Deane Lambros has been catching lots of yellowfin tuna while running the Canyon Runner from Point Pleasant out of its winter berth in N. C. -- and he isn't even fishing for them. Adam La Rosa is scheduling trips in N. C., and also notes that only 35 tickets at 99 remain for Saturday's Canyon Runner Seminar in the Huntington Hilton at Melville, Long Island.
I spoke to ex Belmar skipper Mike Verges at today's Hi-Mar Striper Club flea Market, who said it was encouraging to see plenty of bergall and eel action on the bottom Tuesday -- along with a few blackfish, cod and pollock. The Ocean Explorer was out today, but won't be fishing Sunday due to the wind forecast.
