05/19/2016 We ran an Open Boat Striped Bass trip today. On board we had John, Jessica, Mike, Nick & Eric. Paul ran a few miles north and although he did not find any Bunker or Bass he got in on a good Bluefish bite. The group Jigged over 40 Blues keeping 10 and releasing the rest. A ride of a few miles got us out of the Blues and into the Bunker. Putting out the Spoons the Bass fishing was slow until a rod took a good bend and started to peel lie. It was Eric's turn on the rod and everyone knew he had a quality Bass on the line. It was our only Bass for the day but it was a good one. It was 51" long had a Girth of 28" and tipped the scales at just under 51 lbs. She was Spawned out but had 4 very large Bunker in her stomach. I am sailing Open Boat Seabass Trips on May 26th & 31st and June 1st & 2nd. Spots are still available. Call 732-323-8700 to reserve your spot.
