Posted on April 18, 2021 Raritan Bay stripers still frustrating for party boats There are lots of fish marks in Raritan Bay, and charter boats continue to do well with both shorts and keepers with jigs and by trolling, but the conditions just haven t been right for party boats. See you soon, Capt. Rob The Sea Tiger from that port also struggled on its Saturday half-day trips as jigs didn t work and a switch to bait produced only a few shorts, though one angler caught three.

Some keeper blackfish,some really nice codfish,some ling some really jumbo sea bass are showing up which is great to see I look forward to opening day next month . Just alot of life coming up today.

Had the Chris Vaughn crew out today, got on the grounds early and slayed them with light tackle and jigs, had our limit in our first drift then killed time live-lining bunkers. Capt Greg and Capt Matty on the 31 had Ryan Miller and crew out and had a limit casting then decided to troll to let the guys enjoy some gentleman style fishing and release some more.

I watched guys beat on the blackfish all day on every spot,well almost every spot Problem was that all the bites ere in the bow today. Yes,it was a bow job all day Current was ripping out of the north and stayed with us through out the day,which many have you seen in conditions like this the bow has all the action for what ever reason Even when we would move the boat .

Denise Leonard noted that a friend trolled over 20 bass on a shad umbrella rig without a 28-incher among them, but charter skippers such as Jim Freda on Shore Catch and Fred Gamboa of Andreas Toy have been reporting limits daily while casting and trolling shads, small swimmers and Spooks on light tackle. The N. J. blackfish fleet will be out this weekend to get in their shots before the season closes at the end of the month.
