It was true no-brainer striper fishing and for us and just about every boat out there today. As I mentioned the boats around us limited out as well as the fishing today was nothing short of great.

We covered a lot of ocean on yesterday s trip and the one thing that impressed me the most was the amount of bunker we spotted all inside the 3 mile line. The ironic thing is we fished this same location on both of our last two trips and never got a bite or saw anything that would indicate stripers were present but yesterday was different story and good to see some boats did well.

We just started doing trolling trips this past weekend as we had rescheduled many of our charters due to lack of stripers in the Delaware Bay the last few weeks. It is not looking good for chunking the bay as of this morning, but possibly the strong South and NE winds will bring some stripers from up north down closer to Cape May and some will see the chunk bite take off like it did for us the first week of December last year.

It seems the large schools have not made it south of Wildwood and the million dollar question is will they stay out in the open ocean or will they enter the Delaware Bay We should have an answer within the next week or so after this cold front passes which will lower water temperatures and should result in more stripers showing up off South Jersey and Delaware. Unfortunately for those who prefer chunking, 2014 is starting to look a lot like last fall when most of the larger stripers stayed out of the bay in the open ocean where trolling proved exceptional for us.

The last few years the striper started to show up in early November and we are offering a special early season price of 900 for 8 hours or 150 per person based on 6 anglers from November 1-8. 00 per person for open boat trips.

We fished back to back trip the last few days in the local canyon many of the South Jersey fleet has been fishing which produced some great fishing for us and quite a few other boats we know. It was not drop dead tuna fishing where you catch your limit in a few hours like we often see in late August, September and October at night but a steady pick and you had to put in your time to put a good catch together and that is exactly what we did for our customers and it paid off with some slob Yellowfins on our last few trips.

If you put out a spread to specially to target Whites you could have had a banner day but the tuna fishing was very slow until early afternoon when it went off big time. This is why doing overnight trips really adds to your chances of putting a good catch together due to being on the tuna grounds with less boat traffic and when the tuna feed especially the Big Eyes.

If you want a legitimate shot at both a boat load of big Yellowfins plus Big Eyes, the 24 or 30 hour overnight trips to the Washington Canyon offer the some of the finest tuna fishing most will ever experience now. We will be at the dock for the next few days with the nasty weather but are available this coming Thursday-Friday or Friday-Saturday for either an open boat make-up trip for singles and small parties or regular 6 person charter down to the Washington Canyon where this great tuna bite is happening.

We rescheduled our 30 hour overnight trip down to the Washington Canyon on Monday July 14th and this opened up Sunday July 13th for a day chunk, jig and troll trip. Great chance to take advantage of one of the few open boat trips we will be offering in July as we are pretty booked up with regular charters the rest of the month.

(Big Eye) The most amazing thing about today trip was on one occasion we had 10 on at once and managed to boat 9 of the tuna and the only reason we lost one was the crimp on the spreader bar broke. As on our first trip of the season earlier this week we started far from any other boats in the early am and boated 14 yellowfins by 8 30 am and after that our day was pretty much over and were still catching tuna when we pulled in our lines and headed back to Cape May.
