Capt. Stan Zagleski hs gotten off to another good start with doormat fluke on his Elaine B II from Bahrs in Highlands. The boat's third of the season was taken today as Steve Pirigyi boated a 10.3-pounder as part of his limit and for a personal best. There were also quality fluke caught on Friday, when Steve Herczegh of Spotswood had three keepers up to 7 3/16 pounds. Mike Little from Sewell bagged fluke of 6 7/16 and 6 1/8 pounds.Tom Formisano with Tom, Jr. and his nephew Vinny went home to Bellmawr with their triple limit. Zagleski heard from diver friends why anglers have been reporting poor fluking at times on Sea Girt Reef. Those divers didn't see any fluke there last night in cold bottom waters. The Gambler from Point Pleasant reported poor fluking Thursday due to lack of drift, though an 8-pounder was boated. The light northeast on Friday produced a nice 0.5-knot drift that produced more shorts plus some keepers. The Thursday evening striper trip wasn't good though live bunkers were obtained and there were striper readings.  The Jamaica II from Brielle had some fluke limits on Friday, including those by James Grady of Paterson and Mack Willen from Bristol, Pa, -- who each had a 4-pounder. Lenny Williams weighed a 4.2-pounder to lead the monthly pool which provides both the pool money and a year of free fishing on Jamaica II. The Golden Eagle from Belmar had shots of 5-to-12-pound bluefish today, but not enough as boat traffic put them down. All were caught on Run-Off jigs and Crocs.
