The Queen Mary from Point Pleasant reported over 70 bass, but about 40 percent were shorts -- in contrast to mostly keepers on Friday. Joe Melillo didn't see any bass at Castaways Tackle in Point Pleasant this morning, but he weighed a 22 1 4-pound bass Friday morning after Gerald Cece of Point Pleasant caught it in the local surf on a swimmer.
Though there were a lot of surfcasters spread along the shore from Sandy Hook to Monmouth Beach, those I talked to said there had only been a few brief flurries of bass rather than a repeat of yesterday's Sea Bright blitz. At Point Pleasant, Capt. Bobby Bogan said he fished down to Island Beach State Park and had a decent pick of keeper bass plus some blues on his Gambler -- though it was nothing like yesterday's hot jigging bite.
SL11-15-13HOT STRIPER FISHING IN MANY AREASby Al RistoriIt appears the huge body of stripers that had been slowly moving west from Long Island has finally arrived in local waters as there have been birds working over bass along much of the coast this week with frequent blitz fishing for boaters and a few shots for surfcasters. There were still plenty of bass between the channels yesterday as Capt. Hans Kaspersetz steered Sheri Berri from Baker's Marina on the Bay in Highlands into the bird action in rough seas , after just having returned from a trip to Germany necessitated by his mother's death.
Capt. Rob Semkewyc said there were very few anglers at Atlantic Highlands this morning, but those who showed up had a great day of striper fishing on his Sea Hunter. Grumpy'sTackle in Seaside Park reported only small bass by the few anglers fishing in the cold.

The Tackle Box reported a 21-pound bass caught on a clam Sunday from Keansburg's beach by Gavyn Read (12) of that town.
Striped bass jigging was good all day for Chuck Many of Annandale on his Tyman from Gateway Marina in Highlands as Nellie Greer of Bethlehem, Pa. and I joined him at 6 a. m. to end up the day with 42 striper releases plus 14 large bluefish set free. That fish took me around the boat before Many netted our largest of the day at 37 inches with the little reaser in its head and my popper broken off.
