The swell dropped off today, and fluking improved considerably. Capt. Ron Santee said it was especially good for Ron Hayward of Montgomery, N.Y. who won the pool on the Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands with 7.10-pound fluke, and also caught a 6.4, a 5 and a 4-pounder. Lots of sea bass were also boated. Cat. Stan Zagleski filed the following report from Eline B. I from Bahrs in Highlands: GOOD fishing with multiple limits August 15, 2017   Whatever swell that was forecast to be present the past couple of days was nowhere to be found again today and the fluke were hungry.  Worked one area  and had steady fluke and seabass action all day long.  Gulps and Spros had the advantage with the bigger fish today so if you have them, bring them!  Multiple fluke and sea bass limits for the guys and gals today.   Rick Kelly, Piscataway, NJ, had an easy limit which included the 6 pound pool fish.  Great forecast the rest of the week so take advantage of it!!  Back at it tomorrow.  See you in the morning. The Golden Eagle from Belmar reported lots of action with a mix of blues, bonito, chub mackerel and Spanish mackerel. They also caught sharks - and "manta rays". I have my doubts about the mantas as they are very rare up here and are filter feeders that don't bite. Vinny D'Anton started off his Shark River casting this morning with a small striper, and later took a walk to get into a half-dozen mini-stripers.  I hooked a 19-inch striper right away on a padlletail jig before adding two releases of bluefish in the 4-pound class.
