Though a gusting west wind may offset the warming temperatures on Saturday, Sunday is shaping up to be a rare ideal fishing day in mid-winter with sunshine, a high temperature of about 47 degrees, and a west wind of only 7 to 9 mph. The Big Mohawk from Belmar didn't get out for blackfish today, and won't fish tomorrow, but is set for 7 a.m. Sunday.
The Big Jamaica from Brielle has a limited trip on Saturday going to far offshore wrecks for cod, pollock and jumbo porgies. The $140 trip by reservation departs at 2 a.m. and returns about 6 p.m. Similar trips will also be made on Jan. 27 plus Feb. 3, 10, 17 and 24. Call 732 528-5014 for reservations.
