1000's of NJ Saltwater Fishing Reports, Dozens of Sources, Maps, Wrecks, Historical Search

The winds gave the fleet a break Monday and Tuesday, but gale warnings are posted for Wednesday -- and most boats probably won't sail.  That's too bad because the Golden Eagle from Belmar reported "all you want" blues up to 16 pounds on jigs today. The Queen Mary from Point Pleasant had a high hook on Monday of 12 blues up to 15 pounds. The surf was perfect for casting, and mild temperatures prevailed but Leif Pettersen didn't have a hit while fly fishing at Deal. I cast the 6-inch Tsunami Eel for stripers at Bay Head, but only caught three hickory shad on a Joe Blaze teaser fly before switching to a Tsunami Slimwave metal and hooking my first windowpane of the fall.  At Seaside Park, Grumpy's Tackle reported lots of small blues in the surf, while Betty & Nick's noted that on Monday "A couple of anglers caught a few small bass on T-Hex at Gillikins."
