1000's of NJ Saltwater Fishing Reports, Dozens of Sources, Maps, Wrecks, Historical Search

Anyone who's been near the surf the last couple of days was in for a shock as it was brutally cold after days of south winds. Fish rarely cooperate after such a shock, and to make things worse there was also weed in the Point Pleasant surf this morning. The switch to a light northeast wind should result in temperatures slowly increasing.  Miss Belmar Princess got into 5-to-12-pound bluefish on jigs this morning. A report of black drum closer to the beach brought them in to catch some of those big fish in the afternoon. Capt. John Kolias had members of the Salt Water Anglers of Bergen County aboard his Reel Fun from Twin Lights Marina in Highlands this morning, but wind against tide conditions made for poor drifting. They had to work hard in order to put a fluke catch together in Raritan Bay, including a couple in the 5-pound class.
