But a big thanks goes to Bob Dobbs with the Knights of Columbus, you guys found some fluke late in the trip, but the weather was a little sporty, and a fast drift was a issue. John Weber of Beach Haven West, NJ landed a beautiful 15-lb bull mahi this past week.
3-lb fluke and another great day for Ren Noticy of Barnegat Light, NJ, who won with a big 7. Also we have another lucky, I mean skillful, angler who won the pool, Kenny D of Philadelphia, PA with a nice 5-lber on Saturday and also Dennis Haney of Lumberton, NJ won with a 5.
Another double pool winner was John Snyder of Haven Beach, NJ, who took 2X the money with a 6. 5-lb fluke and Justin Stefanidis of Margate, NJ took the money with a 6.
Last we have Downtown Jordon Brown of Manahawkin, NJ, who won with a nice 4-lb fluke, and a special winner was Macy Ryan (10 years old), who took everyone's money on a fluke trip Sat evening with the BHM TC, it was a 4. I would like to thank Patty from Anexinet, it again was a outstanding trip, fishing was good but the catching was slow, the weather couldn't get any better and everyone had a blast, hope to see you again next year, thanks, Patty.
3-lb fluke (he has been a customer of the CAIII for over 40 years, with his wife Clare), also lightning strikes with Bob Nolan of Ship Bottom, NJ, who wins with a nice 4-lber, and the good Teddy Alves of the north, Mt. Holly, NJ, takes it all with a nice 3. Also one special afternoon we had Tom Miller of Medford, NJ win with a nice 4-lber and Ren Nocity of Barnegat Light, NJ with a 6-lber.
8 4 14 Monday, the weather finally cleared up, the seas are calm once more, the water is clear, the temps are back up (59 degrees on the bottom Friday) into the 60's on the bottom, the drift isn't great but there is some, so, what is it We had fish earlier in the week until Thursday, the southwest wind came and the fishing went downhill. It was a fundraiser for the Veterans, and we had a good time even though the seas were a little rough and the fishing was slow, the girls and guys were great!
Oh yes, we had some decent days last week fishing, a lot of short fish, but some real nice keepers mixed in. 8-lber (nice to see you back, Mike), also Mike Villanova of Waretown, NJ took half of that money (Mike and Mike tied!)
The fishing is still sluggish due to the bottom temp only being in the low 50's (actually, it was 54 degrees at 65-80 ft. ) But that didn't stop Michael Doughty of Toms River, NJ, who won the pool with a 2-lb fluke and Mark Letendre of Massachusetts, who won also with a 2. 8-lb sea bass and Slick Rick of Ocean Acres, NJ, won with a big 3-lb ling.
On a slower day, a nice 3-lb ling won the pool caught by Jeff Bauer of Manahawkin, NJ, hey, some days size does not matter!Either way the water temp means a lot when you're fluking, it can make the bite sluggish or aggressive or not at all (Wish I didn't have to eat when it got cold out!
Here are some of the lucky ones last week Dennis Specht of Ship Bottom, NJ won with a 3-lb fluke, and Tim Gibney of Brant Beach, NJ also won with a nice 4-lber. Mike Villanova of Waretown, NJ won with a 3-lb flattie and Frank of New Egypt, NJ won with a 2.
