Looks like July is starting off as we left June. Big-eyes are still here in full force.
Capt. Phil Dulanie, with Kevin Muller and Craig Angelini put together a solid trip with the John Lindal charter fishing Monday for only 8 hours on the troll they nailed 5 big-eyes out of 8 hooked in total, 5 longfin a bunch of mahi. 2 on Canyon Runner Green Machines bars and 3 on Joe Shutes with Ballyhoo. All bites came right around the dredges.
This trip followed up a couple more big-eyes taken by Capts. Craig Angelini, Kevin Muller and Evan Millas the end of last week and a handful of yellowfin.
Even Capt. Deane Lambros and Adam LaRosa got into the mix while blue marlin fishing (pre-fishing for the Blue Marlin World Cup Thursday). We fished a total of 10 minutes for big-eyes Thursday and nailed the one in the video below. We were wrapping up an uneventful marlin troll and saw all the signs - put out a couple tuna rods - and hooked up in 10 minutes while a lightening storm was approaching.
Adam was elected to hold onto the 10 foot lightening rod as the storm was almost upon us and the guys on the boat got this video.
Sitting at the dock today hoping to go tomorrow.
