They set up in 550 feet of water and had longfin under the boat fairly quickly though not as thick as the night before. The longfin stayed under the boat until 8am but would not take any other baits.
They trolled up the edge and picked on longfin on a 9 rainbow squid bar before setting up at the 100-square. Two hours later they darted a 223 pound Big-Eye that wrecked the charter so they pulled the hook and came home early.
They got there to find 10 boats had our numbers - interesting as no one from this service went yesterday that I know of. They did not have much in the way of bait under the boat all night but did pick away at the yellowfin putting 6 in the boat, longfin putting 3 in the boat and interestingly enough nailed a nice 50 pound wahoo that ate a live squid on a circle hook with 60 pound flouro.
They set up on the hook and immediately had fish to the boat boating 4 longfin and 2 yellowfin by 9 30pm. They picked one more longfin at first light and ended the night with a decent catch of 12 tuna including 8 yellowfin, 4 longfin and released a small sword.
They were lucky enough to get the yellowfin under the boat and started to pick away hooking 14 tuna during the night plus a sword and a mako. Unfortunately there were a few errors in the cockpit and some fish were lost to the rudder and wheels but they did put 7 nice yellowfin in the boat.
Throughout the night they picked away another yellowfin and caught 3 more swords bringing the total to 4 for the night. Although the tuna fishing was slow, the swordfish made up for it.
Capt. Mark DeBlasio had the Eli Turner charter out Sunday morning leaving the dock at 10am to head to the Hudson Canyon. Capt. Mark decided to leave the crowd to themselves at the 100-square and instead set up at the southwest corner and had yellowfin under the boat immediately.
Lined up and down the line we decided to move out east more up the line towards the dip and set up for the night. There were a handful of boats that crushed them Thursday night but also a ton that had only 1 or 2.
Starting the troll around the east elbow, they broke the ice with a nice longfin before the entire spread was in the water on a Rainbow Green Machine Spreader bar. Working the porpoise from the east elbow to the Bombs, the crew picked away at the yellowfin, catching 4 more in the 70lb class, all on Rainbow Green Machine bars.
In the morning not needing to come home they stayed the day and trolled all the way up the edge to the Hudson where they picked away at longfin for a couple hours putting 3 in the boat. They stopped right there and put another half dozen tilefish in the boat to finish out the day.
