As you should know from my last posts I was at the White Marlin Open in Maryland last week and we put up an 80. I strongly suggest staying home until you hear otherwise from us and save some fuel.
He started right inshore of the bombs at 26215 43143 and had 3 fish on before getting all the lines out putting 2 in the boat in the 40-50 pound class. Knowning what happend to the other boat he stayed right there and started a slow pick of yellowfin putting a total of 4 in the boat before dark in the 40-60 pound class and releasing 6 others in the 24 to 28 class.

We did not like still seeing all those smaller fish so we all decided to move to the South Toms Carteret area for bigger fish as per reports we heard from friends. They started fishing around 2pm and by night fall they were 9 for 11 on yellowfin up to 70 pounds just inshore of the South Toms Canyon and kept 7.
Having heard from DeBlasio on his way offshore he took a pass by the Hudson by the bombs and saw life on the surface so he put out the rods and immediately had fish on putting 7 in the boat but only keeping a few. Up on the troll in the morning the charter was happy with 8 fish in the deck boxes already so they trolled west and still picked up two more 40-60 pounders before 6am and then went home with 20 yellowfin boated with 10 kept.
Capt Mark DeBlasio and Peter Doran had the Pete Guaditis charter out Thursday and ran right to the Toms Canyon and started 2-5 miles inshore of the tip of the Toms and did not have a touch until 9am when they put their first yellowfin in the boat and it was a nice one in the 60-70 pound range. He worked that area all day and slowly picked away at nice yellowfin putting 6 in the boat and breaking off or pulling hooks on another 5.
They brough 21 to the boat but only put 9 in the boat and only 3 of those were nice fish of 40-70 pounds. The rest of the 9 were 20-30 pounds and the rest of the 21 were shorts and were released.
They worked that area for a while then moved into the canyon and up the east wall to the Hendrickson while picking another 2 small fish they released. However another boat sitting ont he NE corner of the Toms claimed to go 6 for 6 on the chunk at 4am with all 40-60 pound fish.
They arrived in rough conditions with a 20 knot wind on top of the big Bertha swells and found it tough to troll an effective pattern. She was seeming to settle in for a nice fight and give us a shot on our Penn 70VSW but 5 minutes into it she ripped off of the spool and in the rough conditions we could not come back quick enough and all the string in the water caused her to break off.
Capt. Mark DeCabia, Greg Ryback and Mike Zajac took the Conrad Hopkins charter out on our 48 Canyon Runner Saturday and tried to avoid the crowds by running between the Hudson and the Dip to get in on what we heard was a good bite. Unfortunately the extra run had us arriving just after the hot morning bite was over.
