We had a gustier east wind than predicted on the fluke grounds which both helped and hurt the fishing. Our best fishing was this morning when we had a nice slow drift with the wind against tide. The folks had a mix of quality keepers and shorts on each drift for the first few hours. Once the current and wind finally got together we thought for sure that we would be "in" but the bite slowed to just a pick of nice fish for the rest of the day. Still OKAY fishing overall with some doing better than others which is always the case with fluking. Wayne Pinder, Red Bank, NJ, wound up with several keepers including a 6 pound 2 ounce fish. Tom Feher, Nutley, NJ, fished with his daughter Shannon and both went home happy. Tom took the pool with a 9 pound 5 ounce BEAUTY while Shannon ended up having high-hook honors with four QUALITY fish up to 4 pounds 7 ounces on her first-ever boat trip!!! CONGRATULATIONS to you both!! Gulps, spros and natural baits have all been working lately so it is just your personal choice as to what you should be using. See you in the morning.
