Very unfortunate since our biggest problem today was a lack of drift from no wind most of the day. The guys who worked the spros gulps hard all day wound up with nice fish in the coolers while the folks dragging natural baits did not fare well with the lack of drift.
Ron Neira, Old Bridge, NJ, had several keepers including fish of 6 pounds 3 ounces and 6 pounds 1 ounce. Brian Ogara, Midland Park, NJ, had a 5 pound 6 ounce fish for his largest keeper.
Frank Lavelle, Jersey City, NJ, had several keepers today including a 6 pound 14 ounce fish which was caught in the first couple of minutes this morning and led the pool most of the day. Frank's wife Anne celebrated her birthday with us today and got a very nice present when she caught her largest fluke ever--a 7 pound 4 ounce fish--on the last drift of the day to take the pool.
07 10 14 The fish did not bite well for us today. Fished several areas with some shorts and a couple handfuls of keepers in the morning while we had a decent drift.
Sal Funicelli, East Hanover, NJ, took the pool with a 6 pound fish. Dominick Marcantonio, East Hanover, NJ, had a couple of keepers including a 5 pound 1 ounce fish.
Larry White, Rutherford, NJ, using 15 pound test power pro and a spro rig, hooked and landed a beautiful 11 POUND 7 OUNCE fish which was his largest ever and our largest in several years!!!Butch Hellwig, Bridgewater, NJ, ended his day with several keepers including 8 pound 5 ounce and 5 pound 4 ounce fish of his own.
He put the first keeper--the 7 pound 13 ounce pool winner--in the boat literally within a minute of starting our first drift of the day!!Tony THE FLUKEMAN Satus, Old Bridge, NJ, ended up with three keepers for the day which included fish of 6 pounds 13 ounces and 4 pounds 8 ounces.
Tom Hollywood, Sr., Staten Island, NY had his best day of the season, limiting out early and taking the pool with a 7 pound 6 ounce beauty. Tom Hollywood, Jr., had three keepers of his own with the largest being 5 pounds 13 ounces.
07 04 14 We were the only 3 4 day boat on Raritan Bay today. Greg Barnett, Trenton, NJ, took the pool with a VERY NICE 7 pound 4 ounce fish which was one of his three keepers on the day.
