When things got right we hit the piece I wanted to fish, on the drift for 2 minutes and I see Javan Hemmel, West Milford, N. J. with his rod doubled over. Fran was back again today after taking yesterday's pool with his friends Dan and Amy, Both had big fish once again.
Most spots we catch a couple, shorts and a nice keeper but can't repeat the drift so we move on. The keepers are still all nice fish from 3 to 7 pounds with not many 17 1 2 incher's this season, where did they all go Tried Ambrose a couple of times, no life yet with the exception of sharks, the flats didn't produce much and the beach has been dead!
Had many of the Monday regulars out for the first time today so I knew we had to bust some butt and find the Fluke! Not many buck-tail fishermen on board today bait was the ticket, so It's hard to say if that would have been the better of the two choices.
Saw him hook up and the fish hardly moved off the bottom, when he did have it coming, the head shake and bend in his rod had the poor kids heart pounding, from the way the fish was acting I would have bet it would be at least 10-12 pounds, a few more cranks and we would have at least seen it but another good head shake and the fish was gone!!John Froelich Had two great fish including the pool winner at 8 pounds!
Will start working the channels tomorrow, with the last of the incoming we should have some good conditions to fish there.July normally starts to produce more fluke in many of the area's we have been fishing, I guess I have to follow my own advise and say "Patience" it will happen!!!
