FISHERMEN Weekend Fishing Report. . Tough fishing to say the least the past couple of days. .Saturday started out with a shot of Bigger fish up to 31 pounds, landed 4 and popped off 4 more, caught a few more shorts then went into search mode the rest of the day. Had a couple shots of shorts, a few keepers with most of the bigger fish getting away once again. frustrating to see with a tough bite as it is. Blue fish starting to show up so hopefully those big males won't be far behind.
Chef Sam and crew had several beauties in the cooler including the pool fish at 15 pounds. Not many readings any where we looked today, maybe the threat of some weather pushed them further in the back, who knows.
A pick of shorts with some keepers mixed in. .Hung in there till the change of tide when the bigger fish bit yesterday, didn't catch the big ones but we did manage a couple more keepers and a bunch of shorts in overtime. Windy tomorrow again but we will be shaping up. Dan starts night fishing tomorrow night 6 30pm till 11 30pm. Capt.
Made a quick drop in the bait, no bites, I think it was too deep and the water temp was 49 degrees. Moved to some shallow water and found a few marks. Picked on the Shorts for awhile, all on the outgoing. Tom Krako landed the first keeper of the season taking his first pool after a LONG winter. Water temp 51-52 degrees.
A few of the hard cores, Barry, Danny and 88 year old Gene the fishin machine made it to the boat only to be dissapointed by the turnout. There is still hope for the future if the powers that be, get their heads out their ass and realize what they have done over the years, is nothing more than destroy a lifestile for hard working men who love what they do.
Some nicer fish have been caught on Bunkers and eels with just a showing of smaller fish on the jigs. Capt. Dan has been slugging away on the night trips, fishing has been good when the conditions are right, catching them on eels.
The past two nights of Striper fishing have been the best of the season so far with last night Saturday having the best of the action Capt. Dan reported a good bite right through the tide on fish from 15 inches to 23 pounds Fish look like local fish that are all summer and are finally starting to eat. Hopefully the water temps will drop this week to get things going for us on the day trips.
