While in typical Tog fashion we spent a lot of time waiting out the bites and there were times that you would swear there wasn't a fish within miles of the boat, but by days end with the exception of Saturdays trip, most anglers would have their limit with fish and we also threw back many heavy roe laden females to breed and fight another day! While there was not a whole lot of effort early in the weekend trying to find these fish, there was several reportedly landed on both sides of the Bay and the commercial fisherman have been seeing more and more each and every day with fish up to about sixty pounds.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report April 13, 2011 Our nice spring weather continues to elude us but we did manage to get in another two out of our four scheduled fishing trips this past weekend fishing on Saturday and Sunday and tied up on both Friday and Monday again due to questionable weather and too few sponsors to be able to make a go of it. After about a week of water temperatures pretty much staying the same or in some cases actually cooling, in just the past few days we have finally seen a significant rise with the surface temperatures of both the Delaware Bay and the coastal waters of the Atlantic.

While the Tog did bite a little each day we were out, we did not see some of the more aggressive feeding action that we had seen at times last weekend. By days end the majority of the anglers ended up with the spring limit of three Tog with fish that would average about three to four pounds each with the poolfish weighing in right around seven.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report March 29, 2011 It's been a good week for fishing here at the Wharf this past week and it's also been a good week for fisherman in general with the exciting news of a more relaxed Sea Bass Season then we thought might happen for the 2011 season for the state of Delaware!Catching Tautog last week at times with the fish biting even better than they had so far this year was almost overshadowed as news quickly spread that the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission had announced that it was going to approve state by state shares for the 2011 recreational Sea Bass harvest.

Late in the day we did manage a few more keeper fish but it was too little too late to turn this day around into a good trip. This is an excellent time to think about a private charter to target these fish and we have plenty of open days over the next few weeks.

The weather was pretty much in our favor and the anticipation from cabin fever sufferers such as myself and about twenty others was high as we geared up and prepared for a nice day on the water and high hopes of a fresh fish dinner. By the end of the day I would have to call it a decent trip while there were a few anglers that would be stopping at a seafood market or having a burger for dinner most anglers would be having a fresh Codfish supper and in my book it is hands down the finest eating fish that we can catch around here.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report December 14, 2010 It seems like just a little while back we were gearing up in preparation for a new season and yet here it is the second week of December and the year is nearly past. We haven't completely wrapped it up for the year, we still have several long range trips scheduled for the Jumbo Bass and Tilefish and we should continue to see some good fishing up until the Sea Bass closure at the end of the year.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report December 01, 2010 It's been another pretty good week of fishing here at the Wharf, with a few nice breaks in the weather we were able to see some pretty decent fishing with both the Sea Bass and the Tog. I managed to get out five out of the last eight days fishing for the Tog and both of the special Sea Bass trips also made it out over the weekend along with a couple trips out fishing for the Stripers.

While I have spent just about all of my time fishing for the Tog, we have also had boats out fishing for the Stripers and both of our special trips for Sea Bass got off without too much of a hitch over the weekend with fair and even excellent results. After Monday I will be dropping back to just four days a week fishing on Friday, Saturday, Sunday's and Monday's wreck fishing fro Tog up until the middle of December when we will shut down for a while.

It was a big day at the Wharf Capt. H had an offshore Sea Bass trip, I was going for the Tog, and we would also have a boat fishing for the Stripers. Capt. H. D. headed off to the Bass grounds fishing the 20 mile wrecks, I headed down the beach in search of some cleaner water in hopes of a Tog bite, and the Striper trip would head back out to the rips where the fish had bit well the day before.
