With the prevailing afternoon southwest winds kicking up nearly every day last week we still managed to dodge the bullet and landed some quality fish on nearly every trip and the action with the throwbacks and the keepers at times has been hot and heavy. Over the past week I have seen several days when winds were over twenty knots, when the wind and tides are somewhat together life is good these fish are spread out over miles of bottom and drifting along is a good thing.

Southerly winds in excess of 20 knots several days in a row and the accompanied large swells in the Ocean kept us up in the Bay for a couple days in a row and the fishing was for the most part pretty good, that was until the Flounder decided that they just wanted to bite on the outgoing tide up in the Bay. I expect to be fishing for Flounder for several more weeks with the All-Day Boat and your chances at a big one are possibly better than they have ever been right now.

During the middle of the week with some moderate winds and swells out in the Ocean I actually fished up in the Delaware Bay a couple of days in a row and pulled off some decent catches with Flounder up to nearly eight pounds while staying comfortable at the same time. Both the Croaker action on the Half-Day trips and the Flounder action on the All-Day trips should continue to provide anglers with some serious fish catching action for several more weeks.

Even though our last week was nowhere near as good as we had been seeing for the couple week s prior, the numbers are still up and we managed to have some real moments of greatness with our Flounder fishing in the last seven days. While the majority of the time has been spent out front fishing the old grounds like I said there is an awful lot of Flounder up in the Bay and on certain days it is possible that we may turn that way.

Great weather and calm seas have the water temperatures climbing, fish have been on the move, and the Keeper Flounder continue to hit the decks with my All-Day trips. We continue to have almost constant action with both throwbacks as well as good numbers of nice keeper Flounder nearly every trip and we have seen lots of limit catches along with fish over four and five pounds taking the pool on every trip.

Throughout most of the week it was picky fishing nothing fast and furious but by the end of the day the keepers would add up and we would come home with respectable numbers of some very nice Flounder nearly every trip. Our fishing really has been pretty good so far this summer and with the warmer water and the amount of fish that we are seeing around in all the different locations things are really looking up for the days and weeks ahead!

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman s Wharf Fishing Report June 23, 2009 It s been another decent week of catching Flounders here at the Wharf despite some weather that that seems more like spring than the beginning of summer. While most of my fishing the last two weeks has been out in the Ocean there is also a good number of Flounder up in the Delaware Bay and we have the option to go either way with the varying conditions on any given day.

I spent nearly two solid weeks fishing exclusively up in the Delaware Bay and even though the action was slow at times, the numbers don't lie, we caught a lot of nice keeper fish. Flounder and maybe a few keeper Sea Bass on the drift are what s to be expected in the days and weeks ahead.

Perhaps it was the full moon currents causing the fish to move, it may even have something to do with the nearly 100 boats fishing in just over a square mile of bottom over the weekend, (you can only catch a keeper once) but we have now spread out in the search and destroy mode trying different grounds. Regardless of the weather and what type of clothing we don while out fishing we will continue on with our regular summer schedule here at the Wharf running daily with both the Full and the Half-Day trips.
  • 2009-06-02 Fish Wharf Lewes

I have actually been fishing for the Flatties five of my last six trips and the numbers of keepers we have put on the boat have exceeded any numbers of Sea Bass that we would have possibly been able to keep on our average day fishing just for the Bass. Half-Day trips are scheduled three times a day sailing at 8 00, 1 00 and then again at 6 00 p. m. fishing for Flounder and Drumfish.
