Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Sept. 23rd, 2013 As the summer season comes to a close and switches to the fall season we continue to see daily changes here at the Wharf with our fishing and our fishing efforts. Now it seems that there are fewer nice fish spread around the old grounds and the remaining fish seem to be much more sensitive to any adverse conditions that we may encounter on any given day fishing for them with less willing hungry fish around to bite in any of these difficult conditions.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report September 6th, 2013 After nearly a full two month grind of sailing each and every day fishing for Flounders here at the Wharf, today is the first day we have laid at the docks with the All-Day trip in over fifty days. We will continue sailing daily with the All-Day trips throughout September and October at which time we will likely drop back to a four day a week schedule sometime in November.

For the first time in several weeks I am finding myself with an uncertain plan when I leave the docks in the morning as to where we just might end up fishing on that particular day given the conditions that we have, it's not quite as easy as it seemed a few weeks ago with fish being available in so many different depths. It is after all getting to be that time of the year where variety catch is more normal and even though we may not see the huge numbers with the Flounder on every trip it is still one of the best times of the year to fish and catch fish!Since my last report we had some pretty easy days where the fish bit well in fairly shallow water with a minimal amount of rig loss.

The good fishing has continued all the way around and the summer crowds have been taking advantage of the good weather and the biting fish trying to get that last trip in before the kids all go back to school. Deep water Flounder fishing has remained very steady with the All-Day trips, Half-Day anglers have still been enjoying the Croakers and a real nice variety catch with several different species of fish up in the Delaware Bay, and the offshore scene has still been producing some beautiful fish from the edges of the Canyons.

Capt. H. D. actually loaded up and came home a little early from his Long-Range Tile fishing trip this past weekend, The Croakers have been plentiful on the inshore charters and the Half-Day trips, and the Flounder continue to both please and frustrate anglers on a daily basis. Much unlike Capt. H's coolers full of fish I have spent the last 30 some days straight hunting down the Flounder and one of my favorite sayings when the folks bring the big coffin coolers to the dock is coolers are optional on flounder trips, you may not need one .

Capt. H. D. had a real nice trip over the weekend fishing for the Sea Bass and the Red Hake with the big boat. Capt. H is planning to continue fishing for the Sea Bass and the Ling with these 12 hour trips on the weekends however this weekend he is scheduled to run off to the deep for the Tilefish.

Throughout the uncomfortable weather we have still managed to see some of what I would call really decent Flounder fishing with my Full-Day trips and the Half- Day trips have been enjoying good action with the Croakers. For the last several weeks our Fluke fishing has been painfully slow at times but it has also been very consistent, all tolled since the middle of June when we started drifting primarily for the flatties we have landed just over 800 keeper flat fish which I don't think is too shabby considering the weather and some of the conditions that we had to endure.

Back up in the Delaware Bay anglers fishing on the Half-Day trips or some of the private charters are enjoying some good mixed bag panfish action and they have not had to put up with the swells that we have seen on the Ocean. My Full-Day trips depart the docks at 7 00 a. m. and for the next several weeks I will be primarily targeting the Flounder fishing structure bottoms of the old grounds we have only been seeing a few Sea Bass.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report July 4th, 2013 Despite the constant Southerly wind that continues to plague our area seemingly day after day we have continued to see some decent fish catching action on both the Full-Day as well as the Half-Day trips here at the Wharf. Half Day trips have had continued success catching small to medium sized Croakers, Kingfish and small Trout along with various assortments of Junkfish providing good action for the Jr. anglers and the All- Day trips have seen some of the most consistent Flounder catching action of the season so far including several quality fish in the four pound range as well as numerous throwbacks keeping everyone attentive at the rail .

I have been nothing but solid Flounder fishing with my All-Day trips now for two weeks straight and while I would never say this fishing has been anything other than just pick fishing we have most certainly seen some signs of greatness with the flat fish in these last couple of weeks. Up in the Delaware Bay Half-Day trips and private charters that opt to fish in the Bay or close to shore have also been enjoying decent fish catching action with small sized Croakers, Kingfish, Spike Trout, and the occasional Flounder.
