Over Under - Viewing Report 2005-09-25 - Sept. 25, 2005 - NJ Cayons Charter Fishing 18 - 40 on Tuna This Week The crew of the Over Under had 5 overnight canyon trips lined up for this week, managing only to get 3 of them in, canceling the other two, due to weather. Full moon, ripping currents, and plenty of wind dominated this week 's fishing trips.
In the first of a series, of Penn Fishing Tackle sponsored weekly Open Boat Trips, the OU had a group of 6 guys from the Sea Isle City, Ocean City area out to the canyon for a quick overnight trip before Ophelia set in. In total this trip, the OU caught 10 tuna, 6 bluefin and 4 yellowfin to 90 .
The second pass produced a double header of 150 pound fish, while the next two passes produced single hookups with 150 and 100 pound class fish. The next pass produced the largest fish of the trip, an estimated 175 pound bluefin, brought botside nicely in 25 minutes by Seth Oldford with a Penn 70VS, and then released healthy.

The first two nights the bites were mostly up top, but on this last trip the tuna were hanging down about 120 feet underneath the large schools of squid under the boat.
Stopping in 40 fathoms, we quickly put one nice yellowfin in the boat on the troll, catching Matt Farmer his first tuna fish, before moving onto the edge to set up just at sunset. Earlier in the week on a day troll trip inshore, we hooked up and released a white marlin, catching Michael Kaplan his first billfish.

Most of the action came on Tournamnet Cable splash bars, with green machines trailing, although we did get a lot of bites on skirted ballyhoo as well, just that most of the ballyhoo bites were short.
