We started out the week on a day trip last Tuesday, hearing of a good overnight bite in the Wilmington, we headed that way, but only managed 1 tuna bite on the day troll, and eventually worked in shore and put about 10 dolphin in the boat. Working along side Capt. Tim on the Bodacious we managed to put 4 longfin in the boat before dark, then ran South looking for the same water we sat in 2 night previous, while Bodacious made the call to stay put where we had the longfin bite.
Had our best trip of the week last night, with 20 tuna by 2 00am, then came in. Day trips (trolling) had gotten a bit slow, although yesterday some guys did do well inside on the 40 fathom line again.
The week started off with the best trip of the season by far, with 11 of 16 fish caught on the troll before dark, then a mad dog bite of yellowfin from dark till 9 30pm, when we had more than we could keep and were releasing them for another 45 minutes, before heading for the barn at 10 30pm. The two other trips this week had consistent action both on the troll and chunk with about 10 tuna fish on average caught.
After a much needed night of rest saturday night, we fished Sunday into Monday going 11-16 on the troll in the afternoon. Then, stopping on our numbers at dark, we went 14-14 on the chunk in two hours and were on our way in by 10 30 last night.
The OVER UNDER was out every night from Wednesday till Saturday, this week and found plenty of hungry tuna waiting for them. Saturday's trip was planned as an overnight, but after boating 16 yellowfin (one of which went 90 ), and a 55 Bluefin on the day troll, the guests opted to go home and have sushi for dinner instead!
Over Under - Viewing Report 2006-09-04 - Big Bluefin Before the Blow, Yellowfin, Mahi Wahoo after. Both our boats had a couple days off early in the week, but Capt. John got one last trip in before the blow set in and got right back on the fish.

Meanwhile the Pretty Work was banging out the tuna inshore, fishing from the Lobster Claw all the way down to the Washington Canyon.
It was pretty sloppy on Friday, and Saturday morning wasn't much better, but we managed to put together 3 fish that won the stringer category. We made a couple drifts late in the day to put our 3rd 60 fish in the boat for the 2 day event.
