Aside from the Marlin bite, the Tuna have been quite sporadic this week. After catching all the dolphin we needed, we decided to leave the break and try fishing the colder water with the hopes of finding a tuna or two.

By the end of the week, however, the Yellowfin bite had all but shut down on the Dog, as the water had shifted yet again. Probably the best news of the week was a late report from the Northern Canyons of an excellent overnight Yellowfin bite.

After Sunday's mad dog bluefin bite in 150' of water and reports of Yellowfin in the area and other places in as shallow as 20 fathoms, we've decided to concentrate our searching a bit further inside.
Over Under - Viewing Report 2008-08-31 - 20 Bluefin on NJ Overnight Last Night LOW PROFILE just returned from its fourth NJ Overnight Tuna trip in a row. The bite was very slow Saturday, with ony a few fish being caught by as many as 100 boats that had decided to visit the Claw based on the great reports that had been coming in throughout the week.

The plan was to leave Key Largo Saturday afternoon, troll our way across the Gulf Stream, then spend the night crossing the Bahama Bank, and be at the Pocket at first light for some fishing, and a shot at getting the OVER UNDER back in the Blue Marlin bite after a two year sabbatical.
